Eight teams have been confirmed for the Super 8s of the ongoing Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 following Bangladesh’s tight win over Nepal on Monday morning. This also completes the Super 8s Schedule.
Hosts West Indies and the USA reached the next round alongside the defending champions England. They are all in the same group. The major teams that missed out are Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan had a shocking defeat to the USA and following their close defeat to India, their chances were slim. The washout between Ireland and the USA game confirmed Pakistan’s elimination.
New Zealand suffered a huge defeat in their first game against Afghanistan and that was followed by a defeat to the West Indies. This, along with Afghanistan and West Indies winning the remaining games (except against each other) was enough for them to qualify.
Sri Lanka lost their first two games as well, losing to South Africa and Bangladesh. After a washout against Nepal and Bangladesh’s win over Netherlands, Sri Lanka were eliminated.
Super 8s Schedule and Groupings
10 teams will participate in the tournament divided into two groups of five. The groups and fixtures were revealed on May 5. Defending Champions Australia are placed in Group A while hosts Bangladesh are placed in Group B.
