The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced India legend Yuvraj Singh as an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 ambassador, which will be played in the West Indies and USA from June 1 to 29

The guy famously known for his charismatic personality who hit six sixes in the opening World Cup, his appointment in a move by ICC has sent ripples of excitement. This legendary Indian cricketer, who has left an indelible mark on the sport with his swashbuckling batting is all set to don a new role. As the face of the 2024 World Cup, Yuvaraj Singh will be drawing upon his vast experience and charisma to promote the tournament and inspire a new generation of cricket enthusiasts. 

What will be his role as the 2024 World Cup Ambassador? 

The 2024 T20  tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States of America (USA) and the West Indies from 1 June to 29 June. Singh will be participating in the World Cup promotional events in the United States before and during the tournament. Yuvraj Singh has played all the T20 World Cups till 2016. 

He will also attend the much-anticipated match between archrivals India and Pakistan in New York on 9 June which is set to be a major global sporting clash this year. Yuvraj joins Caribbean superstar Chris Gayle and Olympic legend Usain Bolt as the faces of this edition of the tournament.

Yuvraj’s view after getting the new role of 2024 World Cup Ambassador 

After becoming ambassador, the all-rounder hopes for the West Indies carnival-like T20 World Cup. He is also eager to see cricket grow in the United States. He emphasized the significance of expanding cricket’s reach in the US market and the unique atmosphere of playing in the West Indies. He stated,”

Some of my fondest cricketing memories have come from playing at the T20 World Cup, including hitting six sixes in an over, so it’s very exciting to be part of this edition, which is set to be the biggest one yet,”  Yuvraj Further said as quoted by the ICC.

The West Indies is a great place to play cricket with the fans coming to watch creating a vibe that is completely unique to that part of the world, while cricket is also expanding in the USA and I’m excited to be part of that growth through the T20 World Cup.”

India’s clash against Pakistan in New York is going to be one of the biggest sporting fixtures in the world this year, so it’s a privilege to be a part of and to witness the best players in the world playing in a new stadium.”
